In many major US markets, the concept isn’t new. City lovers have a unique appreciation for the convenience and services that come along with living above a hotel. With foresight, the unspoken concern for privacy in a transient environment can be eliminated through innovative architectural design. Downtown San Antonio’s Alteza Residences above the Grand Hyatt is a testament to how it works best. Alteza has garnered a niche market seeking a walkable downtown lifestyle, providing hotel services, on-site management and an architectural design that prioritizes owner privacy and separation from the hotel’s guest floors.

The hotel staff are masters at hospitality, so you and your family, as well as your guests are take care of. Though the amenities in each hotel and condo are different, most share the basics. You also have access to a poolside resident lounge that you can reserve for private gatherings. The rooftop pool with spectacular skyline views that is the bonus. You can send out your dry cleaning through the concierge and take your family pet for a walk in the world renowned Hemisfair park. At Alteza, you can run a house account and get billed monthly.
To fully road test the lifestyle, Alteza Residences above the Grand Hyatt offers a Guest Residents Program to prospective homebuyers to test drive the lifestyle for a nominal fee. Taking a little “staycation” provides an opportunity to tour the decorator model homes and experience the Alteza lifestyle first-hand. We stepped up to take advantage of this program and share our experiences. Here’s a look at our weekend: First we grabbed a drink at Bar RoJo in the lobby of the Grand Hyatt. We enjoyed the fun atmosphere and headed downstairs to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse overlooking the Riverwalk. Earlier the concierge arranged tickets to see Buddy Holly at the Tobin Center. We love his music and the show left us energized. The Tobin Performing Arts Center was among the best we’ve seen. San Antonio is very fortunate to have a world-class facility like this in town. After a great night, we ordered room service to our condo for the following morning. Right on time, we heard a knock at the door and there was our French toast and over-easy eggs we had ordered. It was delicious! Although we decided to skip our morning workout, we made our way down the elevator to take a look at the StayFit Gym. We were impressed with the quantity and quality of the equipment, and there wasn’t going to be any wait for those working out. A quick change and a swift elevator ride to the 32nd floor and we were relaxing poolside with the most amazing view of the Tower of the Americas. We could see the entire city, and we just kept pointing out all the places we wanted to explore once we moved in. All in all it was easy, convenient, and fabulous!
