The weekend rain couldn’t stop the fun as La Villita hosted its first Muertos Fest’s contest. Completed altars were tightly wrapped in plastic and held together with strategically placed strips of tape to keep them safe from the weather. On Sunday afternoon the clouds parted the temperatures dropped, and it felt like fall was in the air as San Antonio’s first Dia de los Muertos celebration captured the city in La Villita.
On Sunday evening, the annual San Antonio Zombie Walk drew hundreds to the Tower of the Americas to celebrate this season. There was plenty of fun activities to help get the crowd into the holiday spirit and music was provided by mariachi zombies.
For residents of Alteza, the Zombie Walk merely required an elevator ride to the lobby of the Grand Hyatt, and an escalator ride to the River Walk level which opens directly to Hemisfar and the Tower of Americas.
This weekend, it’s the Bud Light Halloween Fest on the River Walk. Music, costume contest, parade and adult beverages combine for a ghoulish good time and a very adult Halloween Party. Professionally decorated floats with costumed participants travel along the 2 1/2 mile Downtown River Walk area. This is a popular event-come early.
The parade will make 2 laps around the River Walk, beginning at the International Building traveling through Restaurant Row, the horseshoe bend, the River Walk Extension, Rivercenter Mall and through Arneson River Theatre.
Costume fashion show at Dick’s Last Resort starting at 4pm. After Bud Light Halloween Fest ends all the bars and restaurnats will keep the party going! Living at Alteza means no worries about getting home safely!
