When Terri and Jim Weynand decided to relocate downtown to San Antonio’s Alteza Residences, they were surprised at the sophistication of the Center City. Living in Boerne, Texas, under an hour away, the Weynands were familiar with San Antonio, but had not spent much time downtown—until now.
“Downtown was an undiscovered world for us …we were completely unaware of the convenience it offers, how much there is to do …how safe it is,” explained Terri Weynand.
Moving in November 2014, the Weynands were empty nesters and decided it was time for a new chapter in their lives—one that provided more convenience—and fun. Alteza Residences proved to be the answer, located in the heart of San Antonio.
Launching two grown children, Terri shares that they imagined living in a place that was easy enough to accommodate a spur-of-the-moment trip and a place where daughters Brittany 24, and Jordan 20 would enjoy coming home to—and having their friends over. “Jordan is a double-majoring sophomore at Emory University, and Brittany works in the corporate investment industry and lives in Southtown …the holidays have proven that Alteza will be a great home base,” she continued. “They love coming downtown and staying with us here at Alteza.”
Despite being a resident for a mere few months, Terri Weynand is already a passionate urbanite. “Downtown is experiencing such incredible growth—although we lived just outside of San Antonio, we really just didn’t know it like we should have,” she added. “We love to walk and meet friendsfor a drink or a bite to eat—and we can do that now, right outside our front door,” she said.
“It’s been so exciting to discover all that the city has to offer. Bike trails, the River Walk, all of the cultural amenities …there’s really something to do for every age and lifestyle… ”
While San Antonio is a drive from Boerne, it’s still close enough in proximity to lure old friends in for a taste of all that’s happening in the urban core—and this is one of the factors that led the Weynands to Alteza. After shopping around, they purchased a unit and then decided to purchase a second unit to combine and remodel into one larger unit. This ensures a larger more comfortable home ready for entertaining guests and hosting family. And the vista …extraordinary, of course. “There’s no better view of the city …and we love looking at it out our windows every single day!”
Most importantly, the Weynands insist they’ve not merely moved into a building—they feel they’ve moved into a neighborhood. “We love our neighbors! We’ve made many new friends already—and everyone we’ve met is so helpful, lovely and inviting—it really is a community here! Doors are always open to you, if you need a cup of sugar …such great people!” she laughed. Adding this comfort to all of the personal amenities—and an extraordinary Alteza concierge staff who are helpful for those who travel and lead busy lives, makes, it the perfect home. ” We love it. We just love it.”
“There’s no better view of the city…and we love looking a tit out our windows every single day!”
