WalkScore.com weighs in on one of today’s most important new home amenities – Walkability. A new blend of empty nesters, young professionals and retirees are flocking to urban city centers to take advantage of the dynamic urban core lifestyle. Alteza above the Grand Hyatt in Downtown San Antonio, is the first and only high-rise condominium located along the RiverWalk at the epicenter of San Antonio’s “Decade of Downtown” initiatives.
Downtown San Antonio is home to more than 4,300 residents and achieved an impressive walk score of 81. With the RiverWalk, Rio Water Taxis and VIA Shuttle, downtown achieves an even higher transit score of 87. With the RiverWalk now doubling as a picturesque fitness trail, the area’s bike score has risen to 76.
The ratings are no surprise to those residents already enjoying the popular downtown lifestyle. New destinations continue to open all around Alteza, including the first phase of Hemisfair, a world-class urban park at the base of the Tower of the Americas. The park includes several new businesses operating from the historic homes located within the park. The new HEB grocery story is set to open the first week of December, and in January demolition begins on a portion of the convention center, making way for even more public park space.
Alteza condominiums begin on the 25th floor above the Grand Hyatt and have recently reach 80% sellout. The remaining residences include one- and two-bedroom floorplans overlooking Hemisfair, Southtown, the Alamo and all of Downtown San Antonio. Alteza is the only luxury high-rise available in the urban core and prices begin in the high $300s.
